How is it even possible to get back to normal when my county/borough has the 2nd highest COVID-19 death rate in the US, only lagging behind the Bronx, which is VERY close to me? It's a war zone here. Never would I have thought my parents would actually beg me to come back and live with them at the age of 30 all while still furloughed and collecting unemployment until this resolves. My stress level is high right now.
Oh I can only imagine. No one down here even believes it's real. All these fuckin rednecks protesting for their right to go out and get a hair cut. It's so stupid. I have so many nurse friends in New York/New Jersey/PA who have like ptsd from how bad it is up there meanwhile the rest of the country calls them liars. I personally feel it's way too early to open everything back up but everything down here is. I'll be staying home. We are number 5 or 6 in the country for cases per capita and no one around me is remotely concerned. Idiot. Rednecks.

Well, I've also been working more than usual, because my tried-and-true strategy of "enter the classroom and ask where we've left off yesterday" is unavailable, and I'd kinda appreciate if things were getting back to normal, but I fear our democracy was one of the first casualties of the virus.
